چکیده

In this work, we numerically investigate the performances of optical regenerators based on self-phase modulation and spectral offset filtering at 40 Gbit/s. We outline the different effects affecting the device performances and explain the choice of the optimal working power. The impact of the regenerator on the output signal is also analysed through a statistical approach. Both single and double stage configurations are investigated. keywords : Nonlinear optics in fibers, optical regeneration

Design scaling rules for 2R-optical self-phase modulation-based regenerators.

We present simple scaling rules to optimize the design of 2R optical regenerators relying on Self-Phase Modulation in the normal dispersion regime and associated offset spectral filtering. A global design map is derived which relates both the physical parameters of the regenerator and the properties of the incoming signal to the regeneration performance. The operational conditions for optimum n...

All-Optical 1-to-8 Wavelength Multicasting at 20 Gbit/s Exploiting Self-Phase Modulation in Dispersion Flattened Highly Nonlinear Photonic Crystal Fiber

All-optical multicasting of performing data routing from single node to multiple destinations in the optical domain is promising for next generation ultrahigh-peed photonic networks. Based on the self-phase modulation in dispersion flattened highly nonlinear photonic crystal fiber and followed spectral filtering, simultaneous 1-to-8 all-optical wavelength multicasting return-to-zero (RZ) signal...

Asynchronous Digital Optical Regenerator for 4 x 40 Gbit/s WDM to 160 Gbit/s OTDM Conversion.

We propose and numerically analyse an asynchronous digital optical regenerator using a single-EAM loop and a novel neighbor-combine approach. It effectively re-synchronizes input signals with arbitrary phases to the local clock, and regenerates signals with high amplitude fluctuation and polarization mode dispersion. We demonstrate the application of this regenerator for 4x40 Gbit/s WDM to 160 ...

Regenerative 40 Gbit/s wavelength converter based on similariton generation.

We present an all-optical regeneration technique based on spectral filtering of self-similar parabolic pulses (similaritons). In particular, we demonstrate numerically and experimentally that ghost pulses, which occur in the zero bit slots of telecommunication pulse trains, can be effectively suppressed. These results are obtained with a 40 Gbit/s pulse train.

All-optical multichannel 2R regeneration in a fiber-based device.

We propose the design of an all-optical 2R regenerator capable of handling multiple wavelength-division-multiplexed channels simultaneously. It extends the known concept of off-center filtering of self-phase-modulation-broadened signal spectra. The novel feature of the proposed device is a dispersion map that strongly suppresses interchannel impairments. The map employs several sections of nonl...
